Individual Spiritual Direction

Individual spiritual direction sessions involve an hour-long in-person or online video meeting.

The session usually begins in silent prayer as both the spiritual director and client collect themselves in the presence of God. Then, the client will share whatever is real and meaningful going on in their life. Together, the client and spiritual director explore where God is present and what God’s invitation to the client may be.

Spiritual direction is an excellent practice for becoming more aware of God’s presence, for savoring the goodness in your life, and for sorting out difficult life situations and choices (discernment). Spiritual direction centers around God, prayer, meditation, and the holiness of everyday life.

Group Spiritual Direction

Group spiritual direction involves everyone sharing honestly, listening to others’ sacred stories, and honoring paths that may be quite different from their own. Clients will also experience profound shifts through guided meditation, prayer, creative expression (music, painting, dance, spoken word), and community. Many groups find it to be an incredibly moving experience.

Specialized topics include mental health, bereavement, addiction, dependency, body image, coping and healing, healthy relationships, self-esteem, and regaining identity.

Individuals may sign up for group sessions on these specialized topics and assembled groups are welcome.

Confidentiality guidelines are set in place to ensure all session information remains private.

Organizational Spiritual Direction

Organizations bring in spiritual directors for many reasons. They may be facing a critical crossroads or in need of direction. A spiritual director leads the organization through a discernment process, including reflections, prayer, and meditation. As the group makes decisions, spiritual directors are available to observe meetings. The director will then share their organizational observations and reflections.

When businesses, ministries, congregations, and communities use spiritual direction services, the entire group is considered the client. Focus remains on the whole body seeking God’s will. All parties prepare a contract or covenant with agreeable confidentiality terms as well as services.

Vocational Discernment

Sometimes people come to spiritual direction for one specific purpose: to discover their life’s work, whether that means a job in the marketplace, working in one’s home, or a new purpose in retirement. For people exploring vocational discernment, the question becomes, “What is God’s desire for my life’s work?”

A spiritual director can help you sift and sort through facts, feelings, and intuition to come to clarity around your life’s work. We ask the critical questions that help you envision where and how God is leading you in the world. We will point you to time-tested traditions and principles that have helped many people throughout the ages discern what God’s desire is for them.
